Our Vision And Projects.

Our aim is to empower disadvantaged young people through education. To achieve this aim:

• We encourage educational achievement for vulnerable children and young adults from foundation phase through to tertiary education.

• We provide food, shelter, clothes and financial support where necessary.

• We involve members of our community in this initiative so they might enrich themselves and the lives of others by sharing their skills, talents and resources.

• We encourage the development of Christian values in COT students.

In the 15 years COT has been in operation we have been able to help many vulnerable children and young adults become self sufficient and realize their potential through education.

COT House

Our three bedroomed apartment in Pinetown, accommodating six students, is our original project and still remains the main focus of our work.

We believe it is a unique concept enabling these students to study in the safety of a family atmosphere with members of the committee interacting with them individually.

They live alone in the house as a family for the length of their studies and in so doing, learn much needed life and management skills with the committee providing help and advice when needed.

It was established to meet the needs of youngsters from backgrounds where a bursary was useless without somewhere to live and study safely, and with money for food, transport and personal needs being provided.

External Students

We have now extended our scope to help youngsters of all ages in their education. Those students able to live at home are provided with bursaries and helped financially with extras like transport, books and uniforms. The majority of these live in the Wyebank and Thousand Hills areas.

We also enable students to access training in the hospitality industry where they can live in the hotels in which they are training. As in Cothouse, our external youngsters are carefully mentored and supported by specific committee members and frequent contact is maintained.

Christian Outreach Trust (COT) has been in operation for over 15 years helping many children and young adults realize their potential through education and solid Christian values.
It is important to note that COT itself incurs no administrative costs such as rent, rates, salaries and all costs relating to transport, telephone, postage, emails etc. are borne by the committee members themselves.
